On March 3rd, 2018 the globe and mail published an opinion piece* from columnist, and chronic plagiariser, margaret wente which defended acadia professor rick mehta in his determined efforts to become a celebrated warrior in the alleged "free-speech wars" on campus. In the same piece, and without logical flow, wente introduced and called for the harassment of anarchist academic Simon Springer, saying students needed be protected from him.
The polemic against Professor Springer included Wente admitting she does not understand Springer's work as an anarchist geographer, ignorantly dismissing it as it "rubbish".
After Professor Springer contacted the globe and mail, they offered him a mere 150 words to respond to the unprovoked attack. (https://twitter.com/AnarchistGeog/status/970347546727014400). Despite the restricted length, Springer wrote a response, which globe editors still cut down, removing what he says is "most of the political content" from his letter while trying to "protect themselves from having to admit that they published something that calls for my targeted harassment."(https://twitter.com/AnarchistGeog/status/971944300811452417)
In a piece for theconversation.com, titled, "Anarchist Professor takes on hate speech", Simon Springer lays out his arguments more thoroughly, and what follows is a reading of his article which was published on March 21st, 2018.
