Midway Music: Spanner- "Freedom Fighters"

Feature: This feature dives into the realities of being an immigrant and refugee in Canada. It discusses the new safe countries list also known as DOC; Designated Countries of Origin. This is a list the Canadian government has created of countries that in their mind “do not normally produce refugees, but do respect human rights and offer state protection. The aim of the DCO policy is to (supposedly) deter abuse of the refugee system by people who come from countries generally considered safe.” and I have to say I visited Canada’s website for Citizenship and Immigration cic.gc.ca and read, and reread their description and purpose for this DOC and it is written in the most unclear, confusing and illogical way! It is utterly disguising. This DOC is impacting many claimants residing in Canada and their access to health care. Our feature dives into these facts.
